More Information About The Ginkgo Tree And Experiences

ThinkOrganizations Hotel ID: 613c07b6-6e5a-4396-988b-3139714ef65d

These photos of The Ginkgo Tree simply ooze the charm of yesteryear, don't they? But everything is new, refurbished or renovated in this warm and elegant inn.

Centrally located in the mitten, Ginkgo Tree is within Mount Pleasant's walkable downtown area. It overlooks 50-acre Island Park surrounded by the Chippewa River. Many guests stay here in connection with events at Central Michigan University, only three minutes away. And of course, many visit Soaring Eagle Casino, five minutes away.

5 deluxe rooms in Victorian home

Ginkgo Tree has a Victorian feel, with its broad veranda and turret and "painted lady" hues of green, gold, burgundy and brown. Choose from five guest rooms, most bearing the names of trees. One TripAdvisor reviewer said, "Pick any room, you can't go wrong."

For example, the Golden Oak room is a suite that gives you the sunrise and incorporates your own private seating area in the turret. Or, choose the Sugarplum Room, with its balcony overlooking the Chippewa River.

With all of its updates, you'd never know that the house dates to 1901. The five rooms, all with private baths, accommodate ten people.

Walk through a garden to the patio overlooking the Chippewa River.

Ready for a delicious breakfast? A multi-course plated breakfast is served at individual tables between 8 and 10 a.m. and you get to select  the time that is best for you when you check in. If you have a food allergy or dietary preference, please let them know when checking in.

Unique experiences at The Ginkgo Tree

Romance

Ginkgo Tree is the place to go in mid-Michigan for a romantic getaway for two. Ask about additional services, such as roses or assorted flower arrangement; attractive baskets containing flowers, wine and chocolate or wine and delicacies to nibble on. We also can arrange therapeutic or deep-tissue massages for you.

Imagine your wedding or event held on this spacious patio, overlooking trees alongside the Chippewa River.

Weddings

Brides love us! We do everything to make perfect dream weddings come true.

For a wedding or another type of event up to 120 people, the The Gingko Tree offers a perfect setting overlooking the Chippewa River. Receptions take place outdoors or under a big white tent with a chandelier.

A gazebo on the patio has framed many a bridal couple as they take their vows.

Adjacent to the patio is an intimate, three-season bar overlooking the river and open to any guest of the inn.

See additional details below under “Events."

Events

In addition to weddings and events utilizing the outdoor patio, the inn offers a perfect indoor venue for teas, family or business gatherings or for just a fun party. With the inn's Class C, SDM liquor license, we are able to handle all your party’s beverage needs. You can add Layla’s services as a professional wedding and event photographer.

Here’s how we accommodate your event:

  • The first floor of the inn offers seating for up to 40, and the veranda can seat an additional 20. The inn is famous for very successful themed parties. Book early for holiday celebrations.
  • Choose gold or silver cutlery, red or gold chargers, vintage teacups or modern mugs, a variety of vases and candle holders -- all included at no additional charge.
  • The inn also has been the site for parties under a tent for up to 200 people. See “Weddings” above.
  • If your event is a fund-raiser, special discounts will be offered.
  • Ask us about specialty bars: whisky tasting; brandy and cigars; signature martinis, or Bloody Mary with all the fixings.

When it comes to events, The Ginkgo Tree does it all: Weddings, showers, rehearsal dinners, receptions, teas, anniversary celebrations, birthday parties, company meetings, holiday gatherings, memorial luncheons, appreciation banquets, graduation open houses, proms, and any other type of gathering.

Waterways

Guests of the inn may float down the Chippewa River around Island Park. The fun lies just beyond our back yard.  If you don’t bring your own vessel, we can recommend local liveries that rent kayaks, canoes, standup paddle boards, and tubes. The Chippewa River has a 4 mph current with no rapids, so this is an enjoyable river for anyone. We’ll take you to a livery on request or pack you a lunch.

Craft Beer

Mount Pleasant has four breweries creating about 70 styles of beers, including many seasonal varieties. The Mount Pleasant Craft Beer Festival in June brings to town dozens of other Michigan craft brewers. Here’s a fun idea: Use our inner tubes to float on the Chippewa River to Mountaintown Station, Steakhouse and Brewery, a local favorite.

Winter Fun

Snow Snake Ski and Golf, only 25 minutes north, right off US-127, offers intermediate downhill skiing, cross-country trails, zip lining, and inner tube sledding slopes.

Adventure

Bring your golf clubs. We have 11 golf courses within minutes, including the highly rated Bucks Run, Pohlcat and Wahbooz Run golf courses. Have an early tee time? Ask the innkeepers about getting an early breakfast or a continental breakfast to go.

Bicyclists, hikers, and inline skaters, take note that Ginkgo Tree Inn is only 25 minutes from the Alma trailhead for the paved, 41.8-mile Fred Meijer Heartland Trail.

Two other great mid-Michigan trail options start 16 miles north of us in Clare: the 30-mile, paved Pere Marquette Rail-Trail that heads east and ends in Midland, and the crushed-stone-and-asphalt, 53-mile Pere Marquette State Trail that runs west to Baldwin.
